DWA-140 OSX DRIVER

I have installed the wireless utility and driver and have repaired permissions and rebuilt cache in kext utility and rebooted, yet the Wireless utility just keeps opening and closing by itself, without letting me be able to do anything. Power On Usb dopo shutdown. The problem that I'm now having is that the once I connect my iPad to the computer via the Ralink connection, it loses the connection after a short time, and then you have to reconnect it through the Wifi prefs on the iPad and then through the Audio MIDI Setup on for Logic. I spoke with Apple yesterday and it sounds as though it will be difficult and expensive to get an Airport card fitted for this machine, dwa-1400 I have a D-Link DWA wifi stick that was given to me by my ISP. In dw and network it doesn't show wireless,it says no wireless adapter.
